Future

For CILLDI to grow and to continue to be relevant and provide meaningful content to new and continuing students, we must maintain an active dialogue with individuals at the community level. To that end, we host workshops and seminars each summer and bring a variety of interested parties to the same table for discussion.  We also seek to expand CILLDI course offerings to include topics such as:

  • the relationship between language and environmental stewardship
  • the relationship between culture, diet, and health
  • language and Aboriginal justice systems
  • acting, videography, and broadcasting
  • and writing workshops to aid in the development of Indigenous language literatures

Just as each past Institute has targeted a specific language (e.g. Cree, Dene, Blackfoot), we would like to develop themes for future Institutes around such topics as:

FAMILY TRADITIONAL GAMES SPIRITUALITY
DANCE AND DRUM ENVIRONMENT TRADITIONAL LAND USE
CLOTHING FOOD LITERATURE
